FREDERICK R. GALEA

Frederick Robert Galea was born in Birkirkara in 1946. He was educated at St Edward’s College, Cottonera.

Had an interest in aviation matters since college student days when in library discovered Capt. W.E. Johns’ fictional aviator character ‘Biggles’; there are, circa, one hundred ‘Biggles’ books.

Later took up assembling plastic model kits, radio control model aircraft and boats, joined the Malta Aircraft Enthusiasts society but moved on to the National War Museum Association when this invited membership. Have been the NWMA’s Honorary Secretary and Newsletter Editor for the last twenty years.

During 1994 the Malta Aviation Museum Foundation was formed and have represented the NWMA as Honorary Board Member ever since.

Have also contributed various aviation related articles to magazines, both locally and overseas and together with UK based aviation researcher/writer Brian Cull have co-authored a number of historically accurate and detailed books on the wartime aviation scene over Malta between 10 June
1940 and 17 August 1943, for publishers Grub Street, London, for worldwide circulation.

Have contributed a number of aviation books for Wise Owl Publishers, Malta, both under my
name and others jointly with Brian Cull.
