Graduated M.D. (Royal University of Malta, 1952). Attended Engineering Geology Course at MCAST (1966-68). Awarded M.Q.R., a medal for distinguished service to the Republic (1992); D.Sc. (Hon. Causa) by the University of Malta (1993). General Practitioner (1952-77); Civilian Medical Practitioner with British Army H.Q. (1964-71); Field Physician with Oasis Oil Company in the Libyan Desert (1977-88).

Part-Time Assistant Curator (1967-84) and Curator (1988-2002) of Natural History responsible for Geology & Palaeontology Sections, including Għar Dalam Cave and Museum. Planned and actuated the Geology and Palaeontology Halls at the Nature and History Museum, Mdina (1973) and the New Museum at Għar Dalam (2002). Author of four new species of Maltese fossils.

Awarded UNESCO Fellowship on Museography (Germany, 1969); Elected Member of INHIGEO (1991), the only Maltese member of this International Commission on the history of the Geological Sciences. Participated in various international symposia and congresses, including the VI International Congress on the Mediterranean Neogene (Bologna, 1967); Seminar on Nature Museums, organized by the Council of Europe and ICOM (Strasbourg, 1989); Kungress Nazzjonali Oqsma tal-Kultura Maltija (Floriana, 1991), 16th International Symposium of INHIGEO (Dresden, 1991).

Author of An Outline of Maltese Geology (1977), The Folklore of Maltese Fossils (1982), Pioneers
of Maltese Geology
(1989), Għar Dalam Cave and Deposits (1989) and several peer-refereed
papers in scientific journals.
