JOSEPH CARUANA

Caruana is a researcher in maritime history, particularly in Maltese maritime and naval history.

He has published the book Battle of Grand Harbour (Wise Owl Publications, 2004). He has also published numerous articles in American (Warship International), British (Warships and Warships Supplement), Italian (Storia Militare) and Polish (Okrety Woyenne) naval and military publications, as well as in the Sunday Times of Malta. He also delivered a number of talks on maritime subjects, mainly at the Maritime Museum of Birgu, but also on Capital Radio, at the National Archives (Rabat) and at the Heritage Centre (Valletta).

Joseph Caruana is the president of the “Friends of the Maritime Museum” (Maltese) and is the editor of the society’s quarterly “Newsletter”. He is also the archivist of the National War Museum
Association.

His last employment before retirement in 1990 was as Project Manager at Malta Dry Docks
Corporation.
